Mmmm....That Chicken Looking Fine

Chicken shop this, Chicken shop that, it's all anyone is talking about and frankly I had to see for myself what the hype was all about. So I dragged two very good and very old friends with me!

They begged me not to mention them BUT this photo is just so great.
ANYWAY...

Run by the Soho House group, Chicken shop is one of their three newly opened restaurants in Kentish Town, along with Dirty Burger and Pizza East.

All three restaurants are first come first service, so expect to wait a bit of time for your table (we waited 45 mins). To pass the time, you can opt to hover round a table overlooking the restaurant, however there is only one table and it's slightly awkward and crammed. Or you can do what we did and venture up the stairs to Pizza East, slyly check out there waiting time (still 45 mins!), and drink there because their bar is a lot bigger and has seating for whilst you wait.

We were seated and served by a charming American waiter, who explained that there were no menus but just placards like the one above, on the wall for you to look at. The food choice is simple its either

1)Chicken
2)Chicken
3)Chicken

Between three of us we ordered a whole chicken, three portions of chips, coleslaw, wine and beers...the full works! Food arrived at an alarming rate, which was good because we were hungry, but the speed seems to be part of how they operate.

They also provide two to die for sauces to accompany the chick chick, however the smokey sauce is smokier than you think. If your pussy's like us go easy with it!

The food was FINGER LICKING good. The only negative said around the table was by Senchal ( the left guy in the photo) who said:

"The garlic mayo needs a tad more garlic!"

Other than that, I sing my praises, the atmosphere was lively, conversation was flowing and the cherry on the top is that it's cheap cheerful, our bill came to a lovely 45 quid including service charge.

Watch out guys, this little trio of restaurants are going to be the new hang out spot in North London threatening the likes of Froyo, Shaketastic and Delisserie. Expect to walk in and see at least someone you know, expect to pretend to not see someone you know and finally expect to eat great chicken at a low price!
